Who Are They?

The Seafarer’s Advice and Information Line (aka ‘SAIL’) is the only CAB service specifically for seafarers, and they provide specialised advice through both phone and email to working and former seafarers, their families and dependants. Their experienced advisers offer information and support on a range of issues including benefits, debt, employment, housing, pension, immigration and numerous others. They’re also able to contact official organisations or charities directly on your behalf, and provide specialist debt advice, which they have a specialist quality mark for.

Under normal circumstances, they’re also able to offer an outreach service wherein an adviser can run an advice session at seafarer accommodation. These sessions are currently unable to run due to the social distancing restrictions in place,  but to express an interest in arranging for a SAIL adviser to attend a group of seafarers near you in future, contact them here.

SAIL’s phone lines are open from 10am to 4pm and are free to call. All contact details, as well as a wealth of useful information, can be found on their website.
